Our History

Established by Douglas Curtiss in 1972, Alarm New England’s footprint extends across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, with offices located in Boston, Hartford, Cape Cod, Mattapoisett, Providence, and Newburyport.

Led by President Alexandra Thompson, a recipient of the Security Systems News Integrators ’20 Under 40′ award in 2017, Alarm New England is dedicated to keeping people safe. Our commitment to excellence has made us a trusted choice for thousands of homes and businesses.

  1. Founder Douglas M. Curtiss founds Sonitrol Security Systems of Hartford.

  2. Working closely with local police and fire departments, we make huge improvements aimed at reducing false alarms.

  3. Expanded CT services to school districts, small businesses, and homes.

  4. We continue to grow, acquiring Sonitrol Providence in Rhode Island.

  5. Alarm New England acquires Intercity Alarms in 2007.

  6. Alarm New England acquires HB Alarms (2012) in Warwick, RI, Electronic Security Systems (2018) in Narragansett, RI, and Security Engineering Inc. (2019) in Springfield, MA.
